In the summer of 2008, we created several murals as part of an art employment opportunity for youth. At Withrow Park (Field House Columns, Pape & Danforth, Toronto), we designed a colorful, vibrant, and abstract mural to address frequent tagging issues. The abstract floral design was chosen to engage the broader community. In the Southwest Tunnel of Monarch Park (Coxwell & Danforth, Toronto), we painted a mural inspired by the Monarch Butterfly. This free-flowing expression of various ideas captures the fluidity of imagination and creativity, transforming the butterfly into a series of abstract and varied visual representations, with participants encouraged to paint and design freely.
